- Dryali and Tahu were in Freelancers' Tavern. Tahu was chillin' out after all the cross-skylith trek, and was amazed to hear about Dryali's and Kaikoa's escapades the day before.
- Dryali, still hot from it all, wanted to talk to Arnari
- Arnari told them
- Children of Āhua in Mantzur still need help
- Haven still needs help in the orchards
- Church of Ua passed the prisoners and lotion to the Church of Storms. The latter wants to track down production of this… lotion.
- Arnari added, "the people visiting the Children of Āhua town Mantzur have been beset by bloodhawks, but they haven't killed anyone… yet. Wrt Haven, there are rowdy trees."
- Discussion ensued.
- Tahu noted, "I am not much use against birds."
- Dryali asked, wonderingly, "What are we supposed to to against 'rowdy trees'?"
- Arnari was cranky this day. "They need defense, not diplomacy!"
- Dryali shot back, "The orchard trees are rowdy?"
- Arnari replied crossly, "I don't know! All we know is, they are rowdy." She adds, "we could guard the Pilot's Guild stables for a full prime."
- <narrator voice> that's 11 days.
- Dryali was petulant. "Not sure about trees."
- Arnari reminded them: "The Sky Guard too, they are still getting vandalized."
- Tahu was clearly thinking about tales from the tavern. "This lotion thing is interesting!"
- Dryali recalled himself. "What's our limits?"
- Arnari reacted as if Dryali is tiring. "Find out where Mansel is, where lotion is getting made?" She became stern. "Don't engage. Tell Waiola."
- Tahu was amazed. "What, are there disassociations? Will we be disavowed?"
- Arnari elaborated, "Since you were attacked!" That was more at Dryali, since Tahu hadn't been there.
- Dryali let the heat come through. "We did not provoke it! It's a public park!!!"
- Arnari shook her head at the entire situation. "Church of Storms is disinclined to tolerate this…" She fell quiet, contemplating.
- Dryali scoffed. "What about Freelancers'?"
- Arnari returned to the present. "We don't disavow. We're known for hiring out."
- Dryali became suspicious. "What if we discover they're connected [the Sky Guard vandals and the Daystar people]?"
- Arnari explained, "Then you get the reward for both, of course!"
- Dryali was unsatisfied. "What is the reward? You didn't say."
- Arnari started. "I didn't say! 150gp total for Skyguard vandal info. 100gp each for the lotion."
- Well, that settled it. Tahu and Dryali took their leave and went back to the park where Dryali & company had escapades the day before. Dryali showed Tahu where everything was, then fiddled with his tools a little bit to cast detect magic.
- Tahu asked, "What did Mansel look like?"
- Dryali told him, "He had dirty blond hair, average height for a human, and a lightly tanned skin. When I saw him he was wearing a leather vest with a cheap yellow dye job."
- <narrator voice> Dryali is short and skinny for a dark elf, like 4'11" and an entire 81 lbs. Tahu is tall and bulky for a Wind Sagani, like 6'3" and 223 lb.
- Tahu mused… "Maybe we should get yellow vests." Dryali shook his head, thinking of the entire situation yesterday. "It would not work for me," he replied, indicating his goggles.
- Mansel, like his rhyming friend Hansel in another world, had left behind a trail of lotion drops detect magic could easily follow. Once they got out of the park, though, it was harder to follow. They asked around; people saw him. He'd pulled off the yellow vest and headed south.
- They headed south, looking around. After a while ended up in a bunch of alleyways. Tahu noted to Dryali, "Someone is following us!" Dryali whispered back, "They only know me. Peel off!" He kept going, towards Hippogriff Way, cocky and swaggering.
- Tahu's stealth is so awesome that he practically disappeared. >poof<
- <narrator voice> Casey rolled a 20.
- Dryali could tell who was following him. He was not concerned, and kept going.
- Yay alleyway! A swarm of hungry rats emerged thinking short skinny Dryali would be tasty, at the same time the following person accosted Dryali and demanded "Give me all your money!"
- The rats tried to bite Dryali but all they did was scuff up his leather boots.
- Tahu accosted the thug! "Give me all your money!" Tahu did better with the thug than the thug did with Dryali, and did quite a bit of damage. Seeing Tahu and the rats the thug replied "GAH! SORRY!" He fled and tossed his own money bag at Tahu.
- Dryali disengaged from the rats, backed up 30', and cast arcane weapon on his hand crossbow.
- Tahu slashed at the rats and killed some.
- Dryali shot at the rats. Magic attack, nice. But they are a swarm.
- Rats tried and failed to attack Tahu, messing up his boots. They were obviously very hungry.
- Tahu tossed food, which occupied all their attention.
- Disengaged and left alley.
- 6g 2s in pouch.
- Dryali asked Tahu, who'd had more opportunity to observe: "Did that guy seem connected to Mansel?" Tahu said, "Nope."
- Continued to Trade District.
- Dryali started asking about cosmetics. Where would he go?
- They found out Mansel has been making trips to the shop over there; people had seen him. On the left side of this somewhere. The "1" is Freelancers Tavern etc.
- It's not a retail place; maybe where they make the lotion.
- Dryali suggested they wait and watch for Mansel. Tahu objected; he wasn't sure that's more info than they already had. Decided to climb rooftops!
- Headed to a nearby alley and climbed up, and started hopping over. Almost fell.
- Once there, discovered there are skylights. Tahu was sardonic. "Of course; they worship the Daystar." Dryali disagreed. "I don't believe they do."
- Carefully, carefully, Tahu peered in the skylight. There were 7-8 people within, busy making something. The person in charge had super blond hair and a deep tan. He kind of glowed a little.
- Dryali also peered in. He was about as subtle as he was the prior day. "That's Mansel!" he pointed out one of the people within, who was not supertan dude. Dryali's shadow of course fell on supertan dude, who looked up and saw him.
- <narrator voice> In other words, Shari rolled a 1
- Supertan dude made a motion with his hand, and 4 burly persons moved towards the door.
- Run Away! Run Away! Rolled Okay! Ran Away!
- Dryali glanced up at Tahu. "That glowy guy, was he human?" Tahu, "yep." Dryali, "Not a fire sagani?" Tahu, "Nope."
- They walked literally down the street to Freelancers. No sign anyone followed them, but they decided to keep walking, and head to Church of Storms.
- Ahh, the Church of Storms! A large central circular area was open to the sky, and the walls were mosaics of storms created with semi precious gems. The building emanated wealth and power. The opening to the sky was designed to make those within always feel the movement of the wind.
- Tahu really liked the windy feeling.
- Dryali thought it was on a par with the Temple at the end of the Stormview docks on Nadezhda. The mosaic and open roof was neat. The view through the floor at the Temple was better. He pretended he was unimpressed.
- A Wind Sagani acolyte approached them. "How can the Church of Storms help you?"
- Dryali informs him, "We have ...information... for the Typhoon, from Freelancers."
- Acolyte: "The Typhoon is very busy, unless" he looks around, and whispers, "it's about the Daystar."
- Tahu said only, "Yes."
- The acolyte ushered Dryali and Tahu in to see the Typhoon.
- The Typhoon is amazing looking Wind Sagani. Are there little lightnings going in and out of her hair? Seeing Dryali, she mentioned she'd been to the Temple at Stormview.
- Tahu reported on what they'd found, including glowy dude, clearly disgusted this is so near Freelancers' Hall. Waiola mulled the information, then said "We might ask more help from Freelancers. We might want to find out about this… Gillian. I'll discuss this with Arnari." She gave Tahu and Dryali 100gp each, and thanked them for their help.
- As they left Church of Storms, Dryali and Tahu checked the street again. Nothing suspicious.
- Back at Freelancers', they talked to Arnari again, and told her what'd happened. They'd found the location; it was not too far from here; <here's the 10gp cut>; Waiola wants more but isn't sure what and will discuss with you.
