Battle Royale 2, Team Version

Julian spent a couple of days teleporting back and forth from Bizarre to gather the participating Freelancers from Duquesne and Commerce.

Starting buffs

• Protector cannon from Dryali is placed on Kaikoa’s shoulder
• Hikawera casts invisiblity on himself
• Fine branch casts aid on himself, Nix & Mercury
• Nix casts dragon’s breath on Mercury
• Tai plays a short ditty with his flugelhorn

1st round

• Fine Branch casts blink - doesn’t disappear at end of turn
• FIRE statue - burns things within 10ft
• Dryali
  • Firebolt on Mercury - Mercury out
  • Activates protector cannon, team has +10 temp hp
• Hawkie dodges
• Tai runs up to center structure & dodges
• Hikawera invisibly moves
  • Moving 5 hexes north, 3 northeast, then two more north
  • Onto same line as Tai
• Kaikoa moves up slightly and dodges
• Nix flys upwards 30 ft
• Ana moves up and takes cover & dodges

2nd round

• Fine Branch casts detect magic, moves up and takes cover behind wall
• EARTH statue - ground rumbles with 10ft & vines try to grab anyone within 15ft
• Dryali crit firebolt on Nix
  • Nix uses reaction to absorb elements
• Hawkie moves up to Tai and dodges
• Tai vaults through the window gracefully & then dodges
• Hikawera moves closer to Tai and casts suggestion “Kill Fine Branch first”, and bardic inspires Dryali
  • Tai saves, is not suggested
• Kaikoa moves forward next to Dryali & dodges
• Nix twin spell & upcast chromatic orb at Dryali & Kaikoa * Nix flies N 50ft
  • Dryli takes cold damage
  • Kaikoa is missed
• Ana step up behind central ruins, casts flaming sphere next to Kaikoa & Dryali, and slams it into Dryali
  • Dryali saves with Flash of Genius

3rd round

• Fine Branch, casts doppelganger, casts spiritual weapon but misses Dryali
• ACID statue - fine green mist wafts out for 15ft, no one is there to get acid damage
• Dryali triggers protector cannon, casts shatter, then runs east a little bit
  • Hawkie out
  • Ana take full damage, but makes save to keep flaming sphere going
• Tai runs between Dryali & Kaikoa, rages, but misses Dryali twice
  • Tai gets +1 to AC and for any teammates in 10ft
• Hikawera moves N and casts shatter on Ana
  • Ana fails save: full damage, also fails save so flaming sphere goes away
• Kaikoa slashes Tai, action surges, and hits a 2nd time. Marks Tai to have disadvantage on non-Kaikoa targets
• Nix dash flies to 55ft above Tai
• Ana moves slightly east and casts an upcast and sculpted spell shatter on Dryali & Tai & Kaikoa
  • Tai auto saves - sculpted
  • Kaikoa fails, but thunder resist from wind agani
  • Dryali fails save

4th round

• Fine Branch’s doppelganger runs up to Dryali, but casts polymorph on Nix to turn her into a stegosaus - fall damage is split between stego and those it fell on.
  • Dryali takes full damage
  • Kaikoa takes full damage
  • Tai saves, and takes half because of rage
  • stego-Nix takes full damage
• WATER Statue - no one within 15ft so nothing happens
• Dryali casts shatter on Tai & Stego-Nix, bonus action to temp hp Kaikoa
  • Tai saves 
  • Stego-Nix fails
  • Dryali runs, and Stego-Nix gets opportunity attack DRYALI out
• Tai runs towards Fine Branch, and breaths cold on Fine Branch
  • Fine Branch fails the save for half damage, but makes the con save to keep polymorph going
• Hikawera moves N of Ana, shatters on Tai & Fine Branch

  • Fine Branch fail, Hikawera uses cutting words to get Fine Branch to fail con save, Stego-Nix gone
  • Bardic inspiration on Kaikoa
• Kaikoa slashes at Nix, but is deflected by silvery wings
• Nix disengages and flies 50ft up
• Ana goes invisible, tries to move away
  • Hikawera successfully stabs Ana

5th Round

• Fine Branch missed Kaikoa with spiritual weapon, & level 3 guiding bolt on Tai, but misses, cat zoomies to the S section of the map
• ICE statue turn - no one within 15 ft so cool mist has no effect
• Tai runs to Fine Branch, hits once, misses once, uses slasher to reduce speed by 10
• Hikawera casts fly on Kaikoa
• Kaikoa flys up and slashes Nix
• Nix flys away from Kaikoa
  • Kaikoa hits with opp attack
  • Hits Hikawera with cold chromatic orb
  • Misses HIkawera with quickened ray of frost
• Ana “I’m going to tuck myself in the southeast corner of that structure and prepare a fire bolt that I will shoot at the first person who does a lot of damage on Tai”

6th Round

• Fine Branch casts healing word on himself, casts mirror image, still doesn’t blink away
• FIRE Statue - fire 20ft around it
  • All statues stepped in 10ft
• Tai hits a duplicate with 1st attack, crit fail on 2nd attack & loses half movement
• Hikawera shatter on Tai & Fine Branch, bonus action to healing word himself
  • Fine Branch success
  • Tai fail
  • Reaction from Ana to firebolt Hikawera
    • Hikawera makes the con save
• Kaikoa flys up to Nix, crit - NIX out
• Ana casts burning hands at Hikawera
  • Hikawera saves for half damage, and succeeds on con save for fly spell.

7th Round

• Fine Branch moves away from Tai, casts toll the dead on Hikawera
  • Tai misses opportunity attack
  • Hikawera takes damage, but succeeds on con save
  • Fine Branch actually blinks out!
• EARTH statue, vines & rumbly ground but no one in range
• Tai misses and hits Hikawera
  • Hikawera succeeds on con check
• Hikawera moves slightly and gets both Ana & Tai in thunderwave
  • Tai fails, is shoved
  • Ana fails, ANA out
  • Hikawera casts healing word on himself
• Kaikoa flys down to slash at Tai, but misses

8th Round

• Fine Branch hits Kaikoa with spiritual weapon, Kaikoa saves vs toll the dead, moves back behind statue and blinks away
• ACID statue - fine green mist within 20 ft, noone is close enough to take damage
• Tai runs to Hikawera, missed twice
  • Kaikoa missed w/ opp attack
• Hikawera casts vicious mockery on Tai
  • Tai has disadvantage on next attack “You should still be using your halitosis to attack people!” “I did that earlier”
• Kaikoa flys next to Hikawara & Tai, but misses Tai

9th Round

• Fine Branch, moves spiritual weapon, but misses Hikawera, cure wounds on Tai 15pts
  • Tai takes attack of opportunity and hits Fine Branch
  • Doesn’t blink out
• WATER Statue - FB within 20 ft, takes 5 pt of bludgeoning, and is pulled 10ft towards statue
• Tai attacks Hikawera, recklessly, but attacks miss and hit
  • Kaikoa used protection style help Hikawera
  • Tai moves around
• Hikawera drops concentration on Kaikoa, but Tai saves vs levitate. & healing word on self
• Kaikoa levitates Tai, and then moves next to Fine Branch

10th Round

• Fine Branch moves spiritual weapon to hit Kaikoa, toll the dead on Kaikoa
  • Kaikoa suceeds on both con saves
  • Fine Branch moves, Kaikoa misses opp attack
  • Fine Branch gets final blink, and comes back immediately 10ft south
• ICE Statue - cold mist within 20ft, but no one close enough to be effected
• Tai pulls out sling but both miss, so rage keeps going
• Hikawera shatter on Fine Branch
  • Fine Branch saves, but Hikawera uses cutting words, to make him fail the save - FINE BRANCH out

Interest of time: Tai is levitated, and it isn’t hard for Kaikoa & Hikawera to take him out while he remains up there, especially since Hikawera has Vicious Mockery to keep Tai less likely to hit.

Tai floats up there mostly just waiting for death, while Kaikoa throws rocks (due to improvised weapon feat) and Hikawera insults until Tai expires.

Before the Dryali, Hikawera, and Kaikoa leave Bizarre, Tanglar will pull them aside to give them their uncommon item rewards. He congratulates them on their win and compliments both their creativity and teamwork.  He is quite impressed with how well they used their abilities to protect each other and says that this is exemplary Freelancer behavior. He is proud and pleased that they’re part of Freelancers.

Tanglar will also find a moment to congratulate Tai and Ana on their performance in the Battle Royale.  He is impressed with how they used their abilities to keep pressure on the other teams and is pleased to have them as part of the Freelancers.
