  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, sent Dryali Tezbeth, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, Quelenna, and Tuala to Waypoint Tremendous in order to learn of the disposition of any Daystar lotion shipped there.
  • The Freelancers took the Barucci, a mechanical airship out of Grafton captained by Fir Blackstone, a quinametzin.  Travel to the Waypoint took almost 5 days, having been thrown off by encountering weather issues and a large insect swarm.
  • Upon arrival, the Freelancers settled in at the waypoint station, and had breakfast.  To their eyes, nobody appeared to be Daystar cultists, although they noticed two people with fading tans, and only one server for the entire tap room.
  • With the tap room providing no clues, the Freelancers took their mounts to look for signs of Daystar lotion at the station and in the forests of the Waypoint.  They finally found what they sought in an abandoned clearing 4 miles away.
  • When Dryali poked the crate of lotion with his pole of collapsing, boars manifested with lightning on their tusks.  One of the boars was larger than a gryphon.
  • Dryali concluded the boars are from the storm gods, Hau and Whatitiri.  Unfortunately they remained boars, and did not understand language, creating a stalemate.  Ana resolved the situation by destroying the Daystar lotion, and the boars withdrew into bolts of lightning.
  • On inspection, the Freelancers realized the crate had been stashed in a shrine to the storm gods.  Dryali took the time to refresh the symbols carved thereon.
  • The Freelancers returned to the waypoint station, and sought out the two people with faded tans to learn what happened.  They found out the station had many Daystar cultists, but the boars had slain the others.  These two people survived because they hadn't taken it seriously in the first place.
  • The Freelancers returned to Ripa Daneo on the Volland, a fire elemental airship out of Coldstream captained by Oret, a Cloud elf.  Once docked, they reported to Tempest Addis of Church of Storms, who, like me, was amazed and impressed to learn of direct interventions from Primordial gods.  He paid them their fee of 300 eagles each, and noted a determination to staff the shrine at the waypoint.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern in the wee hours of Chaostag, 2nd prime post-Calm.
Loot
  • Mission pay:  300 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, sent Fine Branch, Cathance Lobdhain, Nix Frostshaper, and Quelenna to acquire Death Butterfly wings for House Hadid, having spent some funds to learn the general area of Commerce in which to find such creatures.  Freelancer help had been requested by Gigi Hadid.
  • Informed by Damakaios that they would be able to find the creatures in the southwest part of the skylith, the Freelancers flew south to Tranquil Crossing, then continued on to the southwest and camp.
  • During truedark, 3 cheshires attacked the Freelancers' camp.  They were slain and the Freelancers skinned their valuable hides.
  • After sleeping late, the Freelancers began their search for Death Butterflies the next morning.  They soon found a meadow with a couple thousand of them accumulated in 3 swarms, and paused to strategize.
  • The Freelancers' attempts to separate the Death Butterfly swarms failed, so they just fought and slew them all.  The gryphons Nutmeg and Hau-kea were very injured from the butterflies' poison.
  • After collecting the Death Butterflies, the Freelancers then flew directly back to Ripa Daneo.
  • House Hadid paid 1875 eagles for the Death Butterfly wings, and 1200 eagles for two cheshire pelts.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Rochtag evening, 3rd prime post-Apastron.  The Freelancer Cut only applied to the fee for the Death Butterfly Wings.
Loot
  • 3 Cheshire Pelts:
    • 2 sold to House Hadid for 1200 eagles (split between Fine Branch, Cathance, Quelenna)
    • 1 to Nix, who paid the others 50 eagles each to make up the difference
  • Mission Pay:  1875 eagles total for Death Butterfly wings (10% to Freelancers)

  • Of note was preventing an incident with a poorly contained hatzegopteryx and catching 2 pickpockets working the crowd.  Again, the rest was typical security.
  • Damakaios paid 225 eagles each for the first half of the Mount Faire, and Mudra paid the Freelancers 250 eagles each for the second half.
Loot
  • Bonuses of 100 eagles each for the gear thief and hippogryph egg thief (Fine Branch, Dryali, Tai, Ana, Kaikoa); 50 gold each for preventing hatzegopteryx disaster (Fine Branch, Dryali, Quelenna, Nix)

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, assigned Glesni Bōhatei and Hikawera to deliver a courier pouch to Clan Bevederen on thalassa Rocha for the Ripa Daneo Mount Faire.  Freelancer help had been requested by Mudra Copperfeather, the proprietor of the Faire.
  • After picking up the pouch from Mudra, the Freelancers took the Paulgortan, an elemental airship captained by Efja, a triton.  Passage was overnight, since it was closest approach of the conjunction.
  • Once on the thalassa, the Freelancers got rooms on Raftport, then flew to visit Clan Bevederen.  On the way there they encountered two unfriendly elementals.  They slew one and drove the other off.
  • At Clan Bevederen they delivered the pouch to Hendrik, who paid the Freelancers the mission fee of 250 eagles each.
  • The Freelancers stayed overnight at Raftport and headed back to Ripa Daneo the following day, arriving in the late afternoon.  Upon arrival, they visited Mudra to deliver the receipt for the courier pouch.

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, assigned Fine Branch, Cathance Lobdhain, Tai Ho'onani, and Nix Frostshaper to deal with whatever was troubling the Hasapis Vineyards, which everyone thought was some sort of scary worm.  Freelancer help had been requested by Niccore Hasapis, Head of House.
  • The Freelancers flew to Hasapis Winery in deteriorating weather, arriving in the early afternoon.  Once there, they scouted the problem vineyard and noted wormsign.
  • That evening, they participated in the standard 4-course dinner with wine pairings as the Hasapis were wooing buyers from off-skylith.
  • The next day, as the storm built, the Freelancers returned to the problem vineyard, where Fine Branch used thaumaturgy to lure out any worms.  By the time one appeared, the storm was breaking.
  • The Freelancers attacked the worm from the air with cold and lightning, but then a new, larger worm appeared which had many wings and could fly!  It almost ate Tai, but was slain first, after which the Freelancers easily dispatched the non-flying worm.
  • Soaked by the storm, the Freelancers scouted the area, but saw no more worms.  They harvested 1200 eagles' worth of materials from these worms, then buried the corpses enough to be safe for the workers.
  • The Freelancers returned to the winery buildings to dry out, and wait out the storm.
  • The next morning, Zurito Hasapis accompanied the Freelancers to the problem vineyard, where he was shown the burial mounds to avoid.  He paid them 300 eagles each for their efforts.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Okeanostag, 1st prime post-Apastron.
Loot
  • worm teeth, carapace, and wings worth 1200 eagles (sold)
  • Mission pay:  300 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, sent Cathance Lobdhain and Quelenna to investigate the crash of the mechanical airship Delcinia, hailing from Falas Vronti on Thunderer, in the extreme southwest of skylith Commerce.
  • The Freelancers got slightly lost on the way because of low visibility, but corrected themselves the following day and found the wreck, which had opened up an interior cave.
  • The entire crew of the Delcinia had died; those that survived the crash appeared to have been attacked by something with claws.
  • As the Freelancers kept looking, an albino arachnid with claws showed up.  Quelenna and Cathance slew this creature, but in the process Cathance blew herself and her mount up with a fireball.  Fortunately, the mount survived.
  • The Freelancers resumed investigating the wreck, and determined the cargo was ordinary.  Quelenna exited and harvested the creature's carapace; Cathance retrieved some samples of the cargo.  They leave before dark, having been unable to determine if the wreck was caused by sabotage.
  • After camping a night in the southwest, the Freelancers returned to Ripa Daneo the next day.  Damakaios paid them 225 eagles (the fee minus the Freelancers Cut) upon receipt of their report.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern early evening Nemostag, 1st prime post-Apastron.
Loot
  • incense and furs worth 624 eagles (sold)
  • albino carapace worth 400 eagles (sold)
  • Mission pay: 250 eagles (10% to Freelancers)

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, sent Fine Branch, Dryali Tezbeth, and Kaikoa on the mission from House Amabel to clear more rooms in that uninhabitable villa they'd purchased.
  • The Freelancers flew into the atrium of the Amabel Villa to discover music playing from the two northern corners.  They entered the ground floor of the villa on the east side where the prior team had cleared a reception room.
  • Moving north they found a mud room with a cloak closet.  Here they encountered two undead butlers and two swarms of snakes, which they slew.
  • A ghost from the living room to the north began harassing the Freelancers, so they entered this living room to dispatch it and also a ghostly organ player.
  • The Freelancers searched the mud room, living room, and organ room, removing whatever valuables they found.  They noted doors leading into other parts of the villa from the organ room, but decided not to explore further.
  • On their return to Freelancers Villa that afternoon, I cast identify to ascertain the nature of the magical items they'd removed.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern same day.

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, assigned Fine Branch, Dryali Tezbeth, and Nix Frostshaper to track one of the captured hawk constructs back to its home base.  Alvyn Ricker Nackle had re-engineered it to fly home without calling for help, and Damakaios had convinced Manaja, headmistress of the Sugar Glider Hang Gliding School, to fund the mission.
  • After explaining the hawk's expected behaviour to Dryali, Alvyn waited until the other Freelancers were ready and waiting in the air before he activated the hawk and released it.
  • The hawk flew northeast along the Rim, with the Freelancers easily able to trail behind it on their mounts.  Once past Hasapis Vineyard, it turned directly north over the crater.
  • Upon returning to the Rim, roughly east from Moana's Eye, the hawk construct disappeared into a cave.
  • The Freelancers landed on a nearby hill and sent Nix's familiar Mercury to scout.  The winged cat found the cave had an entrance to accommodate flying mounts, and broad passages down into the hill.  He stopped upon detecting construct sentries of some sort around a corner.
  • The Freelancers spent the rest of the day scouting the area.  They found a second entrance, large enough to dock a small airship, guarded by 4 constructs:  2 animated armours, and 2 more spindly humanoid constructs.
  • Returning to the first entrance, Fine Branch and Mercury both went in to scout, and Fine Branch confirmed some sort of warning trap existed where Mercury had previously detected constructs.
  • The Freelancers, sure this was their target, were uncomfortable camping in those environs and spent the night returning to Ripa Daneo.  Dryali's and Fine Branch's mounts were not robust enough for it, so they took rest breaks and did not arrive til dawn.
  • Upon arrival, they informed Damakaios they'd found the base, but waited until evening for a full debrief and mission pay of 225 eagles (after Freelancers' Cut).
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Sieratag, 2nd prime post-Planting.
Loot
  • Mission pay:  250 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, sent Fine Branch, Cathance Lobdhain, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, and Tuala on the mission from House Amabel to clear more rooms in that uninhabitable villa they'd purchased.
  • The Freelancers flew into the atrium of the Amabel Villa to discover music playing from the two northern corners.
  • Since the doors in the eastern part of the atrium were cleared, the Freelancers chose a door into a reception area on the first floor.  5 armed spirits were there and reacted poorly to the interruption of a revelry only they could see.
  • A battle ensued, including combat and words, for the spirits were extremely hostile to the presence of nekomata such as Fine Branch and Tuala.  The Freelancers prevailed, but not before Fine Branch and Tuala were severely injured and Ana almost died.
  • The Freelancers searched the reception room and removed whatever valuables they found.  They noted doors leading into the rest of the villa on the sides of the room, but decided not to explore given the injuries they'd already sustained.
  • Upon their return to Freelancers Villa that afternoon, I cast identify to ascertain the nature of the valuables they'd removed.  They were intrigued by the hostility, so I also fielded their questions about society's attitude towards the nekomata in my great-grandmother's time, before the comet struck.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern same day.
Loot
    • Vox Helm (sold to Freelancers to 150 eagles)
    • Torchbearer’s Reach (sold to Freelancers to 400 eagles)
