Imperieuse Citadel

Type
Settlement

Unapproachable by direct flight and defended by mighty artillery emplacements above and to the sides, the impregnable Imperieuse Citadel has been the seat of power for the Mais-Quand family for generations.  The citadel has a core of permament residents, with a significant flow of transient residents who have arrived and left as pirate crew.  Airship docks fan out to either side of the main citadel for miles, culminating in terraced emplacement of ballistae and mangonels; below the docks, the central city spills over and downslope, given way to enclaves of pirates, smugglers, and raiders to the north and south, and farming villages to the west.  All remain at peace with each other under the rule of the Mais-Quand.
