Imperieuse

A small, irregularly shaped skylith in the innermost part of the upper reaches, Imperieuse orbits with a small but significant tilt on the outer edge of the nearby skyway.  The fanciful could describe the skylith as a wizard's "boot", orbiting heel first, with the toe curling up westward.  An impregnable citadel is built next to and into the westward-facing central cliff, allowing its rulers to reign unchallenged.  Confident in its security, Imperieuse Citadel has an anything-goes attitude for skylith access and trade... as long as the fees are paid.  As a result, enclaves of pirates and skylith raiders nestle near the foot of the citadel.

Climate:

Frequent fog and rain; when encountering the skyway squall line, some thunder and lightning on the upper slope.  No real trailing vortices to the west, although there are some over the central valley.

Terrain:

A high, gentle, east-facing slope is mostly covered in temperate rainforest, which abruptly drops for miles on the westward edge to a gentle valley far below.  Hidden in the western clifftops are large ballistae and mangonels.  The central valley, in the rain shadow of the higher cliff, slopes up again toward the west, with terraced farming and irrigation.

Hazards:

airships (or the remains of them) unaware of the navigational hazards can crash on the unhappy residents below, and unwanted visitors, of course, have to face the defenses.
