  • Cathance Lobdhain, Hikawera, Tai Ho'onani, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, and Quelenna were tasked with the mission from Taleisin of the Orderly Stones Monastery to find the reason for the kobold attacks, and end it.
  • The Freelancers travelled by flying mount to Orderly Stones monastery in one day without incident and overnighted there.
  • Travel to the kobold stronghold took two full days, and the Freelancers were attacked by young owl gryphons during the intervening night, which they slew.
  • The next day, the Freelancers flew up to the stronghold entrance, killing 5 guards.  A sixth one escaped to warn the others.
  • Exploring the tunnels within, the Freelancers found it seemingly empty.  They encountered a large crevasse, which had two large caverns and four ledges opening onto it.  A bridge led from their tunnel to one of the caverns.  Ana had her familiar look for kobolds, and finding none, scatter any sling bullet supplies they found.  The familiar found a copper armband, which had a distorted image of The Snake.
  • The Freelancers flew on mounts to the cavern not attached to the bridge, and started exploring.  A roper attacked them; they slew it, and paused to assess.
  • Before resuming explorations, the Freelancers were attacked by a party of 6 kobolds, who were audibly displeased about their Avatar of The Snake.  All wore the copper armbands.  Tai negotiated a truce, but not before taking large injuries.
  • The kobolds relayed that their stronghold was beholden to a false Avatar of The Snake, who required excessive tribute.  The Freelancers concluded the false avatar was really a dragon, and offered to assist with ridding the kobolds of this problem.
  • The kobolds led the Freelancers by a circuitous route to a safe place to heal up, and from there to the lair of the false avatar.  They sent two of their party back to the central stronghold to provide a distraction.
  • Ana sent her familiar to find alternate entrances into the lair, which the Freelancers used after securing mounts in a nearby cave.  However, they fooled nothing and nobody; a young green dragon, Carpalor, awaited them.
  • A battle ensued, in which Carpalor was slain, but not before eliminating Ana's familiar and severely injuring Quelenna.
  • The Freelancers sorted through Carpalor's relatively small hoard, leaving supplies, gems, and coin for the kobolds, and taking all the magic items.
    • Acquired:  2900 eagles in assorted coin, 16 50-eagle gems, 7 healing potions, 2 greater healing potions, 1 superior healing potion, Alchemy Jug, Handy Haversack, pendant of inner strength, bracelet of holding, +1 Arcane Grimoire, +1 greataxe
  • One kobold met them a ways after, and led the Freelancers back out of the stronghold.  Other kobolds kept watch from the surrounding cover.
  • The Freelancers travelled back to Orderly Stones monastery without incident and collected their fee of 500 eagles each.
  • After Ana resummoned her familiar, the Freelancers returned to Cliffshadow the following day.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Rochtag, 3rd prime post-Planting.
  • Arnari Rilynn’sithek sent the green dragon head out to the taxidermists, intending to add it as a trophy in the public meeting room.
Loot
  • Coins: 2900 eagles in assorted coin

  • Tai Ho'onani, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, Ondar Thundercaller, Nix Frostshaper, Timmy, and Lorcan Puddingrass Pasternack Tuinstra accepted a mission from Kaiea Tihani, Mayor of Cliffshadow, to investigate the origin of the skeletons found in the Wendehals mausoleum.
  • The Freelancers visited the Academy of Magic, inquiring of any unusual student activity related to necromancy.  They discovered Roberto Wendehals had actually engaged with Darag, one of the instructors, to learn necromancy, ostensibly to reduce costs of his carting business.
  • The Freelancers visited the Hall of Records to find out more about the Wendehals and Roberto in particular.  They learned that Roberto had died a year previously, with no heirs, but had been in the company of an elegant lady for some time before his death.
  • The Freelancers revisited the Wendehals mausoleum in the Parkside cemetery to confirm his internment.  They found Roberto's grave clearly marked therein, but it was empty
  • By opening the sarcophagus, the Freelancers triggered a glyph of warding, and revived the 6 skeletons from the prior visit, which they fought and defeated.
  • The Freelancers examined Roberto's empty sarcophagus, which appeared unused by any corpse, and found a secret cache with coins worth 353 eagles, and a mysterious map.
  • The Freelancers informed the Mayor, who accepted the map, but declined the gold.  He paid them their fee of 100 eagles each.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern same day.
Loot
  • Coin:  353 eagles
  • Mission pay:  100 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • From Lakeview, they started a search northwest of Lake Mossey.  On the second day out of Lakeview, the Freelancers encountered a pair of grells.
  • The Freelancers fought and slew 3 grells, which were apparently comfortable in the river.
  • Nix harvested some of the grell's tentacles, and Kaelani found the grells had a small stash, which he stowed in a sack for later.

  • Ondar Thundercaller, Mia Taumata, Block Lamtand, Nix Frostshaper, and Lorcan Puddingrass Pasternack Tuinstra accepted a mission from Mayor Ethan of Three Rivers to investigate a problem with sheep going mysteriously missing from the herds managed by the hamlet Sceap.
  • The Freelancers travelled to Sceap in 6 days without incident.
  • Upon arrival in Sceap, the Freelancers gathered information from the villagers.  Block cast speak with animals to talk to the sheep directly; Mia interviewed a shepherd; and Nix chatted with the town drunk.  Lorcan discussed with Malsam, the headman, how Sceap tracks its sheep.
  • The following day, the Freelancers secured a sheep, then searched southwest for the location where the sheep had gone missing.  In the late afternoon, they found the pasture, and discovered trenches tearing up the ground.
  • Thwarted by the trenches, Mia tried stomping the ground, and the Freelancers were subsequently attacked by three ankheg, which they slew.
  • Mia took one of the heads, and Block and Lorcan harvested the ankheg acid, delaying their return to Sceap.  Unwilling to camp where the trenches were, the Freelancers moved an hour northeast and camped there, returning the following day.
  • The Sceap villagers were horrified by the ankheg head.  Malsam paid the Freelancers their fee of 150 eagles each and composed a mission request asking for help cleaning out the nest.
  • Malsam mounted the ankheg head in the center of the village, then told all the shepherds not to take their flocks in the southwest direction.
  • The Freelancers returned to Cliffshadow in 6 days without incident and delivered the mission request.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Kenostag, first prime post-Planting.
Loot
  • 2 vials ant acid (1 each Lorcan & Block)
  • Mission Pay:  150 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Tai Ho'onani, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, Glesni Bōhatei, Khalid Malone, and Torinn Myastan accepted a mission from Kaiea Tihani, Mayor of Cliffshadow, to investigate and stop noises from the graveyard in Parkside which had been disturbing nearby residents.
  • The Freelancers visited the Parkside graveyard in the late morning, and got a tour from the groundskeeper Dinkin, a stout human.
  • After the tour, Ana's familiar Hawkie located a mausoleum with an open door, the Wendehals.  The Freelancers investigated and were attacked by disembodied hands and feet, which they easily dispatched.
  • Ana cast detect magic and the Freelancers descended into the catacombs below, after Glesni sent a message to Arnari Rilynn’sithek that the strange graveyard noises were not teenagers, but some necromancy.
  • The Freelancers encountered 6 animated skeletons, which they dispatched.
  • Ana continued her detect magic as the Freelancers investigate the catacombs, the skeleton bones, and the sarcophagi.  They concluded the skeletons were not from the interred bodies, but had items useful to the living.
    • Acquired:  130 eagles in assorted coins; 8 gemstones worth 50 eagles each (1 carnelian, 2 chalcedony, 1 chrysoprase, 1 onyx, 1 quartz, and 2 star rose quartz); +1 battleaxe, Winged Boots, and Handy Spice Pouch.
  • The Freelancers emerged from the mausoleum and probed Dinkin to see if he'd known about their findings, but only succeeded in scaring him.
  • They returned to Freelancers Tavern same day and Arnari paid the fee of 90 eagles each.

  • Cathance Lobdhain, Kaelani, Ondar Thundercaller, Osric Torunn, Mia Taumata, and Ka Kekoa accepted the mission from Taleisin of the Orderly Stones Monastery to find the origin of the kobolds who have been apparently training apex predators to attack the monks and their herds.
  • The Freelancers travelled to Orderly Stones monastery in two days without incident and overnighted there.
  • The Freelancers hiked to the remaining unexplored gap in the map of apex predator lairs, to the northwest of the monastery.  They found no sign of predators, in the clearing and natural cave, but Kaelani spotted a crude snake carved into a nearby tree maybe an eighth ago.
  • Cathance interpreted the snake carved into a tree as a trail blaze from the north.  Realizing the tree is unusual, she started searching for others on Jigsaw.  Upon her finding another tree with the blaze, Osric started helping find others, and they continued, with the group heading northward, until they found kobold tracks.
  • The Freelancers camped, then continued northward by backtracking blazed trees, taking care to be stealthy.  Their second night of camping was mostly without any watch, since Ondar fell asleep.
  • The afternoon on the following day the Freelancers spotted a kobold patrol, including fliers, which they followed stealthily at a safe distance.  A couple hours later, the patrol returned to a hidden opening 60' up a cliff face:  the kobold stronghold.
    • They observed that the opening in the cliff face would require kobold-sized creatures to negotiate the handholds.  The opening, which was guarded, was a cave 20' wide by 10' tall, so flying mounts could easily land there and discharge riders.
  • Three days later, the Freelancers arrived back at Orderly Stones monastery with the news.  Ondar drew out the map of where they'd scouted, and Taleisin paid the fee of 200 eagles each.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Rochtag, last prime post-Fulcrum.
Loot
  • Mission pay:  200 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • The Freelancers travelled to Orderly Stones monastery in two days without incident and overnighted there.
  • The next morning, after discussing likely locations for their search with Taleisin, they headed towards the leading edge of the skylith.
  • After spending the better part of a day going through pathless forests, the Freelancers encountered a path and snow.  Investigation revealed more apex predators:  winter wolves.
  • Instead of noting the situation and moving to the next likely location, the Freelancers provoked the wolves, then split the party.  The split party was attacked by three winter wolves, which they slew.
  • Reforming the party in the clearing housing the wolves, the Freelancers Investigated a tree stump which Hikawera had shattered.  They found some valuables covered in shattered potions.
    • Acquired:  161 eagles in coin, and 8 gems worth 10 eagles each:  2 azurite, 1 banded agate, 1 blue quartz, 2 hematite, 1 malachite, 1 tiger eye
  • The Freelancers gave up on their search and returned to Orderly Stones monastery with the wolf pelts and heads.  Taleisin admonished them he still wanted to know the location of the kobolds, but paid a fee of 200 eagles per wolf head.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Okeanostag, 3rd prime post-Fulcrum.
