  • Fine Branch, Tahu Tuala, Cathance Lobdhain, Hikawera, Meurig, Tai Ho'onani, and Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana} accepted a mission from Korfel Goltorah, leader of the Children of Āhua town Mantzur, to find and stop a knight who is attacking the Children of Āhua in nearby fields.
  • The Freelancers travelled to Mantzur in a day and arrived without incident.
  • That evening, they discussed the attacks with Korfel and some of the victims of the attack.
  • The next day, the Freelancers located the meadow described by Korfel, but not until dusk.  They withdrew and camped overnight.
  • The following morning, Fine Branch provoked 5 knights in plate armour which turned out to be full of bees and thorny brambles.  5 swarms of bees were also provoked.  Fine Branch then released smoke from his ever-smoking bottle, blinding everyone but the suits of plate armour.
  • After a confusing melee, the Freelancers killed the swarms and disabled the suits of armour, which they brought back to Mantzur, after failing to ascertain their origins.
  • Korfel confirmed the origin is hags, and paid the Freelancers their fee of 150 eagle each.  He let them keep the 5 suits of mismatched plate, declaring Mantzur had no need of it.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Kenostag, 2nd prime post-Tumultuous.
Loot
  • 5 suits of mismatched plate armour
  • Mission pay: 150 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Dryali Tezbeth, Fine Branch, Tai Ho'onani, and Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana} accepted a mission from Church of Storms to travel to Waypoint Resource and determine, quietly, the disposition of the Daystar cultist lotion that had been shipped there.
  • The Freelancers took berths on the air elemental airship Braidwood.  The airship ran into inclement weather, causing grievous airsickness for all but Ana.
  • Arrived at Waypoint Resource on Fysitag, first prime post-Tumultuous.
  • Purporting to represent the mining consortium, the Freelancers interviewed the Waypoint station personnel and quickly determined which had been suborned into the Daystar cult.
  • Tai pretended to join the cultists to find out more about the supply of lotion, and discovered instead they were beholden to a liontaur, Siress, who also appeared to be part of this vile cult.
  • A stakeout of their place of "worship" backfired, and the Freelancers slew all the cultists except Siress, whom they captured.
    • Acquired:  jewelry worth 375 eagles, boots of elvenkind, +1 daggar, ever-smoking bottle.
  • Ana took the news back to the Waypoint manager, Levtri, and revealed the truth of their purpose on the waypoint.  The Freelancers claimed Siress was culpable for suborning the personnel, and offered to assist as needed to prevent the resulting staffing shortages from risking more lives on the barren skylith.
  • The next morning Fine Branch contacted Arnari Rilynn'sithek via sending requesting help and instructions.  Arnari appraised Church of Storms, and Adrian Bryant arranged for the air elemental airship Tugendhat to transport a tempest cleric and a squad of Storm Guard, to retrieve the Freelancers and the liontaur.  Arnari also appraised the Skyguard, and Bryseis Seere arranged to send relief to Waypoint Resource.
  • The Tugendhat arrived at Waypoint Resource without incident on Vrontag, 2nd prime post-Tumultuous, and took 5 days to return.
  • On arrival in Cliffshadow, Church of Storms took charge of the liontaur, and Adrian Bryant paid the Freelancers their fee of 20 stars each.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Fysitag, 2nd prime post-Tumultuous.
Loot
  • jewelry worth 375 eagles
  • boots of elvenkind
  • +1 daggar
  • ever-smoking bottle

  • Fine Branch, Terrance, Cathance Lobdhain, Hikawera, and Kaelani accepted a mission from Taleisin of the Orderly Stones Monastery to check the caves that had held kobolds a year ago and confirm it was still unoccupied.
  • The Freelancers took most of the day to get to the kobold den, and found it seemingly abandoned.
  • Hikawera checked the entrance and found a small secret passage not reported from the prior mission.  Cathance explored the passage to find it led to the room of the big battle.
  • A found chest in the big room was actually a mimic, and the Freelancers battled both it and the shadows left behind by the fleeing kobolds.  Cathance's wild magic summoned a modron, and Terrance slew it once it attacked the Freelancers.
  • Cathance and Terrance led the others back through the passages of the den.  They entered a chamber blocked by a cave in, and inhabited by three carrion crawlers, which the Freelancers slew.
  • The Freelancers backtracked to the entrance, and advanced to a chamber containing the statue of The Snake, restored.  Fine Branch's spirit guardian cats decimated the stirges which had taken up residence therein.
  • After Terrance disarmed the trapped statue, the Freelancers looted the coin & items on the altar to the Snake.  Hikawera used shatter until the statue was smashed.
    • Acquired:  18 eagles, 362 cats, 232 pebbles,  stone of good luck, mask of the snake, armband of the luddite.
  • The Freelancers returned to Orderly Stones Monastery the next day, and presented Talesin with the mask of the snake.  By the following morning he determined it was cursed, but paid 500 eagles for it.
  • Hikawera realized the armband of the luddite was also cursed but had already attuned to it, so Fine Branch used remove curse to remove the attunement, and they sold it to the monks also.
  • The Freelancers collected their fee of 200 eagles from Taleisin and left for Cliffshadow.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Rochtag, last prime post-Periastron.
Loot
  • coin: 18 eagles, 362 cats, 232 pebbles
  • stone of good luck (Kaelani)
  • mask of the snake (sold for 200 eagles, split)
  • armband of the luddite (sold for 500 eagles, Hikawera & Fine Branch)
  • Mission Pay:  200 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Dryali Tezbeth, Fine Branch, Kaikoa, Manu, Tai Ho'onani, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, and Broo'an were dispatched by Arnari Rilynn'sithek to travel to Marshfork and rescue Freelancers Evvie, Aleki, Laki, who were overdue reporting in.
  • The Freelancers travelled to Marshfork in 8 days without incident.  They observed organized wolf prints heavy enough to indicate riders near the road.
  • The Freelancers discussed Aleki, Evvie, and Laki's mission with Mayor Casimir, and negotiated another fee if grblins were discovered and the threat removed.
  • The next day, the Freelancers headed directly to the cave at the gorge and arrived near the end of day to find it uninhabited.  Fine Branch and Kaikoa flew overhead on watch while the others investigated, to discover evidence that Laki, Evvie, and Aleki had been there and were overwhelmed in a fight.
  • The Freelancers made camp half an hour away, but were disturbed in the night by sounds of grblins and wolves visiting the cave.  They were unable to return before the grblins were gone.
  • The next day, Freelancers easily tracked the grblins north to another cave, in which there were wolves, dire wolves, giant bats, many grblins, and Evvie, Laki, and Aleki alive, exhausted, injured, and tied up.
  • After initial planning, the Freelancers attacked, setting the bat guano on fire as part of the opening salvo.  The grblins also had a trash monster, which joined the altercation.  They slew all but one grblin, who fled; and also prevented any further harm to the captive Freelancers.
    • Acquired:  177 eagles' worth of coin, 1 silver ring worth 25 eagles, 1 tiger-eye pendant worth 25 eagles, 7 scimitars, 1 scroll of identify, 1 scroll of arms of hadar, bag of holding, bag of tricks (rust).
  • The Mayor of Marshfork paid the ten Freelancers 150 eagles each for clearing out the grblins and bringing news they were in possession of flying mounts.
  • The Freelancers travelled back to Cliffshadow in 8 days without incident.
  • Dryali, Fine Branch, Kaikoa, Manu, Tai, Ana, and Broo'an were paid 200 eagles each by Arnari for the rescue.  Aleki, Laki, and Evvie were sent to bring the report to Mayor Kaiea.

  • Dryali Tezbeth, Fine Branch, Tahu Tuala, Terrance, Tuala, and Hikawera accepted a mission from House Ha'aheo to travel to Hindmarsh and raid a bullywug encampment.
  • The Freelancers travelled to Hindmarsh in 10 days without incident, despite unpleasant weather and travelling during Periastron.
  • The following day the Freelancers met up with Hirrathak, the marsh guide, at the House Ha'aheo warehouses, and headed into the marsh.
  • On the way to the bullywug encampment, the Freelancers observed environmental damage caused by the herb gatherers having a smaller area in which to do their gathering.  Upon arrival near the encampment, which took 3 days and 2 nights, Hirrathak withdrew to a safe distance.
  • Dryali used Terrance's broom of flying and his own eyes of the eagle to scout the bullywug camp from above.  He saw no captives.  Based on the map of the encampment and available spells, the Freelancers engaged in an area attack.
  • In less than a minute, the Freelancers slew everything:  12 bullywugs, 4 giant toads, and a young hydra.  The attack generated a considerable amount of noise.
  • With the encampment on fire, it fell on Hikawera to check for any valuables.
    • Acquired:  206 eagles' worth of coin, 1 small gold bracelet worth 25 eagles, 1 small mirror set in a painted wooden frame worth 25 eagles, +1 all-purpose tool, necklace of prayer beads (3 beads: blessing, curing, curing), astral shard, +2 daggar.
  • Upon return to Hindmarsh, the Freelancers collected their fee of 150 eagles each from Vaughn Quickrein, warehouse manager for House Ha'aheo.
  • The Freelancers travelled back to Cliffshadow in 10 days without incident.

  • Fine Branch, Tai Ho'onani, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, Dryali Tezbeth, and Tahu Tuala accepted a mission from Taleisin of the Orderly Stones Monastery to track down & dispatch a cave bear which had attacked one or more of their apprentices on goatherding duty.  Arnari Rilynn'sithek instructed them, were they to find more than one bear, to demand 400 eagles per bear from Taleisin.
  • The Freelancers took two days to travel to Orderly Stones Monastery without incident.  On the way, they made a plan to bait the cave bear with one of the monastery goats.
  • Taleisin, a serious monk who follows Tikanga, did not appreciate Fine Branch's trickster declaration of their need for a goat, but agreed in the end.
  • The following morning, the Freelancers got directions from Fuifui, but wanted to talk to Oliver, the mauled apprentice.  Taleisin stopped them from doing so, and he sent them on their way with better directions, a goat, and assurances it really was a cave bear, not an owlbear.
  • The goat was unsuitable for Ana to ride, but she made the attempt anyhow and was dumped on the ground for her efforts.
  • Once the Freelancers got to the place of the bear attack, Tai easily tracked the bear, but they did not find it by the end of the day.
  • The Freelancers camped overnight in a defensible place, and left food out as well as the goat, but instead of a bear attack, the goat freed itself and ate the food.
  • The next day, the Freelancers caught up with the cave bear, as well as another cave bear, a grizzly bear, and two bulky bears.  The bears appeared to act in concert and the Freelancers slew them all.
  • Tai beheaded and skinned all 5 bears.
  • Fine Branch and Tahu located the bear lair in a cave.  They found signs of kobold habitation alongside the bears, and a small shrine to The Snake.  Dryali collapsed the cave mouth with shatter before the Freelancers headed back to Orderly Stones.
  • Taleisin was taken aback that there had been so many bears, and unhappy that kobolds worshipping The Snake had been involved.  He did pay the Freelancers 400 eagles per bear head.  The Freelancers kept the pelts, worth 20 eagles each.
  • The next morning, the Freelancers left for Cliffshadow, and arrived two days later without incident.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Sieratag, last prime post-Cat.
  • Fine Branch left a bear pelt for Arnari as part of the Freelancers Cut.
Loot
  • 5 bear pelts, worth 20 eagles each
  • Mission Pay: 2000 eagles (180 eagles and 1 bear pelt to Freelancers)

  • Fine Branch, Dryali Tezbeth, Terrance, Quelenna, Kaikoa, and Manu were assigned to capture Ethan of the Daystar cult and remand to Church of Storms.  Mission requirements were that Ethan was to be captured, not slain.
  • Quelenna led the Freelancer group to where Ethan was in hiding, and they discussed intelligence and plans with the Church of Storms acolytes who'd been surveilling him.  Based on that information they decided to wait a day.
  • That night and the following morning, Kaikoa, Fine Branch, Manu, and Quelenna kept watch on Ethan's place and confirmed the acolytes' information.
  • Terrance and Dryali discussed Ethan with Julian, in the tavern, but Julian had no further info from his interrogation of Petersen two days prior.
  • Manu put ball bearings on the back steps of Ethan's flat, then Terrance picked the lock.  The Freelancers entered and searched for occupants, finding Ethan and one other cultist making their vile lotion.
  • The Freelancers captured Ethan and one other cultist, through clever use of hold person, a ball gag, a sack, and two pairs of manacles.  Ethan still managed to burst into golden flames, thus injuring Quelenna, Terrance, Kaikoa, and the other cultist.
  • The Freelancers invested some effort making it appear that Ethan and the other cultist had left on their own, then brought the two to Adrian Bryant of Church of Storms, who paid them their fee of 200 eagles each, plus a 25 eagle bonus.
    • Acquired:  A fist-sized sunstone, a pair of topaz earrings, +1 scimitar, 1 disguise kit, and 3 ugly but gaudy yellow leather vests.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Okeanostag, 3rd prime post-Cat.
Loot
  • a fist-sized sunstone
  • a pair of topaz earrings
  • +1 scimitar
  • a disguise kit

  • Fine Branch, Cathance Lobdhain, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, and Tai Ho'onani agreed to accompany Julian to the Bardic Competition in Three Rivers, to enhance Freelancer prestige and relieve Arnari Rilynn'sithek of attending herself.
  • Julian had agreed to judge part of the competition.
  • Julian opted to walk, and paid for supplies, room & board.  On the way to Three Rivers, when they passed the hamlet Ophelia and he heard from the others about their recent mission there, Julian composed a song.
  • Arrived in Three Rivers a day prior, and prepped for their roles in the competition.
  • Prep finished, the escorting Freelancers used their presence in Three Rivers to confirm the miscreants Justin and Tian, who had tried to kidnap Fine Branch and Cathance during most recent Calm, were in prison.  They also confirmed Jamie and Green Mais-Quand had been through the town since Jamie's escape.
  • At a pre-competition party, the Freelancers encountered a bard named Petersen, with an escort of vile Daystar worshippers.
  • At the opening of the competition, Julian revealed his new song about Ophelia's rock-hard fields, which was well-received.
  • Petersen was to compete in the skilled bard solo portion of the competition.  For his performance, he cast a stun on most people, including Julian and Cathance, by singing about the Daystar.
  • A melee resulted between the Freelancers and the Daystar cultists, but when Julian recovered from his stun, he used mass suggestion to make them surrender.
  • Interrogation of Petersen revealed he and the Daystar cultist leader Ethan hail from Hindmarsh, and operate under the direction of Brolin and Meagan.  Ethan has a patron who gains power according to the number of Daystar worshippers.
  • Petersen was relieved of his cittern, an instrument of the bards, and Dean Benaitis of the Bardic Conservatory paid the Freelancers 250 stars for it.  His escort were relieved of their scimitars, which were distributed to the Freelancer escort.
  • Julian teleported the other Freelancers and the Daystar cultist prisoners directly to the Cliffshadow Freelancer Tavern practice yard.  Tomtom and myself stood ready with Nohea and Valan, to prevent any trouble from them.
    • It's hard to describe what it's like, being in the presence of people who so obviously live in a fantasy world.
  • Julian and the other Freelancers escorted Daystar cultist prisoners to the Church of Storms, which took custody of Petersen.  After discussing the situation with Typhoon Waiola Vaina, she agreed to pay the Freelancers 150 eagles each.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Fysitag, 3rd prime post-Cat.
  • Arnari paid Ana, Tai, Fine Branch, and Cathance their fee of 100 eagles each
Loot
  • 2500 eagles (split 5 ways) from sale of an acquired instrument of the bards: cittern
  • 5 high-quality scimitars, etched with the Daystar sunburst
  • Church of Storms bounty:  150 eagles each
  • Mission pay:  100 eagles each
