In the twin cities of Ripa Daneo and Gata Nahaki, there are two grand parades. Both are hosted by the most important of the Church of Storms clergy in their shiniest hats. Both feature the thrum of taiko drums and the stomping feet of dancers as they wind through the city streets. This year, both cities were favored with overcast skies to enhance the feel of the day, without getting stuck with rain. Quelenna had cause to be grateful for that as she danced through the parade, celebrating the day and training her legs for strength by mimicking the very thunder.

And when the two parades meet at the center gorge, it is with a clash of thunder as they shoot lightning at each other! But not, you know, lethally. In a friendly way. Away from any bridges, amateurs, or drunk citizens on their flying mounts. Well, ideally at least.

You see, Ana insisted on trying to sneak in and join the church of storms for their official shooting, but couldn’t even get close enough to talk her way in. Thankfully, there is also a much more fun group of so-called amateurs that allow her to join them with a lovely bottle of wine. Wine does not improve Ana’s aim much, though it does make her a great companion for Osric and the others.

Luckily, even that amount of wine was not enough for her to accidentally sling a bolt at her friend Tai. Taking a break in the lightning to mean that the show was over, Tai thought that it would be a fun idea to fly across the gorge through the rises and dips of hot and cold air. The lightning show, dear reader, was not over. Thankfully Spencer Thundersparks, who is possibly smarter than his owner, was able to swoop out of the gorge just in time.

Dryali chose the much more sedate activity of nursing a port with Kaikoa and watching the show over the gorge.

While Tahu had intended to have a similarly relaxing holiday, when walking through the street fair set up by Carnivale on a low bridge beneath the lightning, he was spotted by an admirer. Thankfully, the admirer also let him play a round of Windy Slippy for free, where you can try and grab prize slips set to move by a wind spell. While Tahu did not manage to win a stuffie of himself, he did get two prize slips, one for street food and one for a drinks discount. With these winnings, he was able to buy a lovely lightning shaped samosa.
