Church of Storms Storm Elemental Problem

Fine Branch and Terrance choose from a few different missions. They were offered Searching for Ethan, Trap Testing for the Cliffshadow Academy of Magic, and Getting Rid of Storm Elementals before they become an issue to Cliffshadow.

They settled on the Storm Elemental eradication. This was offered by the Church of Storms, because most others would be afraid of offending the Church of Storms if they went after storm elementals. Before they head out they do a little bit of stocking up. Fine Branch buys several candles and a kite.

Fine Branch and Terrance headed north, up the road from Cliffshadow towards the Orderly Stones Monastery. Before the road cuts to the northwest they head east towards the edge of the skylith to look for the storm elementals.

Unfortunately they get turned around in the woods and instead of finding storm elementals they are found by three dire wolves. Terrance is bitten badly. Nighthawk is bitten even worse and falls unconscious until Fine Branch heals him. But they take out all three dire wolves before too long.

After the fight with the dire wolves they rest for a little bit.  Upon remembering they have flying mounts they take “To the Trees!” as Terrance always says as she flies off on her flying broom. With the aid of a little elevation their next attempt to find the storm elementals goes a bit better. They find the general area where they were told the storm elementals would be. However, they decide to take an early rest and tackle the storm elementals the next day.

With Nighthawk’s help they find a good location for camping overnight.  It is a long long rest as they think that taking watches is the better part of actually waking up, and consequently end up spending almost 12 hours to make sure both of them are well rested. Overnight they both hear a bit of thunder, and Fine Branch sees a few flashes of lightning from the direction of the storm elementals. 

The next morning they are both well rested. Fine Branch cooks a tasty breakfast before they head to the edge of the skylith and confront the storm elementals.

They sneak near the edge of the cliff where the storm elementals are playing loud rough games with each other. They see 3 smaller elementals and 1 medium sized thunder elemental. Fine Branch distracts one of the small ones with his kite. Terrance climbs a tree and distracts another of the small eles with a slung pinecone. The thunder elemental comes over to boom at Fine Branch. When Terrance drops a dagger at the thunder elemental it booms both of them, and Terrance goes flying over the edge of the skylith. Terrance fails to hold on to the safety rope which had been set up, but does manage to grab the irregular face of the cliff. The elementals are mopped up pretty quickly after that, and Fine Branch collects a small vial of thunder elemental dust.

Fine Branch and Terrance fly back to Cliffshadow and report their success to the Church of Storms. Adrian Bryant accepts their report and gives them each 100 eagles.
