It's the Tumultuous Holiday! Cliffshadow, per usual, was having a raucous celebration. This year, the day seemed more about Hau than Whattitri; the weather was blustery, with occasional spatters of rain.
The rain did not deter the noisemaker celebrants! Ginormous taiko drums were set up in Pegasus Square, and every bard worth their salt took a turn on them, including Arnari, leader of the Freelancers. Lesser drums were set up in the Park, and anyone who wanted could try them. Waves of sound criss-crossed the city as Freelancers and Academy of Magic started using thunder sheets to mimic the storms that marched across the skies. And the Church of Storms, led by Typhon Waiola Vaina, paraded through the streets. If they seemed a little more defiant and a little less arrogant, who would notice?
Some of those Freelancers who had never been in Cliffshadow during Tumultuous found themselves at loose ends.
Carmen, never having been in any large city during the Tumultuous Holiday, only felt bad for the birds. He retreated to the wooded area of the Park, and did his best to comfort them.
Timmy, who thought he'd adjusted to the city, sought out a location where the blends of sound would be soothing, and wrote in his book.
Kairos, used to the subterranean city of Gemhallow, retreated from the official celebrations and just spent the day in the fairly raucous Kowiri Music & Tavern on the eastern side of Guildstrom.
Tim, happy with the contrast to his recently quiet life on the ranch, bought popcorn from a street vendor and watched the taiko performances.
