  • The Freelancers put on a demonstration of prowess for the entertainment of others in Pegasus Square, in an arena set up by the Academy of Magic.
  • The battle was a Free For All. It included Dominic Holyarm, Manu, Peb Pebbles, Aranel Neras-Dumaren, and Kairos Greybeard.  Peb took first place, with Dominic second, and Manu third.
  • All participants received a prize of 100 eagles, with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd awarded additional prizes of 300 eagles, 200 eagles, and 100 eagles.
  • Upon reviewing the combat later that afternoon, it became clear to Freelancer and Academy of Magic leadership that the arena integrity had been compromised, both diminishing the entertainment and calling the prowess of the participants into question.  Both organizations embarked on investigations.

  • 1st place = 300 eagles for Peb
  • 2nd place = 200 eagles for Dominic

  • Lorcan Puddingrass Pasternack Tuinstra, Dominic Holyarm, Minji, Peb Pebbles, Tim Jolly, and Ricardo Monroe accepted a mission from House Ha'aheo to take out an encampment of bullywugs in the marsh who had started hassling their herb gatherers.
  • The Freelancers travelled 6 days without incident, flying direct from Three Rivers to Hindmarsh.
  • The day after arrival, the Freelancers visited Vaughn Quickrein, in charge of House Ha'aheo's warehouses in Hindmarsh, who directed them to work with the guide Hirrithak to find the bullywug encampment in question.
  • With Hirrithak's help, the Freelancers took two days to find the bullywug encampment.
  • Leaving Hirrithak away from any combat, the Freelancers laid waste to the structures there, slaying everything but one bullywug caster, who fled.  The slain included a young hydra that severely injured Minji.
  • Inspection of the camp before firing it resulted in finding a large amount of coin but not much else.  Acquired:  542 eagles, scroll of erupting earth, +1 mace.
  • On their return to Hindmarsh, Vaughn paid the Freelancers 150 eagles each mission fee.
  • Return travel was 6 days without incident.

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, assigned Fine Branch, Cathance Lobdhain, Tai Ho'onani, and Nix Frostshaper to deal with whatever was troubling the Hasapis Vineyards, which everyone thought was some sort of scary worm.  Freelancer help had been requested by Niccore Hasapis, Head of House.
  • The Freelancers flew to Hasapis Winery in deteriorating weather, arriving in the early afternoon.  Once there, they scouted the problem vineyard and noted wormsign.
  • That evening, they participated in the standard 4-course dinner with wine pairings as the Hasapis were wooing buyers from off-skylith.
  • The next day, as the storm built, the Freelancers returned to the problem vineyard, where Fine Branch used thaumaturgy to lure out any worms.  By the time one appeared, the storm was breaking.
  • The Freelancers attacked the worm from the air with cold and lightning, but then a new, larger worm appeared which had many wings and could fly!  It almost ate Tai, but was slain first, after which the Freelancers easily dispatched the non-flying worm.
  • Soaked by the storm, the Freelancers scouted the area, but saw no more worms.  They harvested 1200 eagles' worth of materials from these worms, then buried the corpses enough to be safe for the workers.
  • The Freelancers returned to the winery buildings to dry out, and wait out the storm.
  • The next morning, Zurito Hasapis accompanied the Freelancers to the problem vineyard, where he was shown the burial mounds to avoid.  He paid them 300 eagles each for their efforts.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Okeanostag, 1st prime post-Apastron.
Loot
  • worm teeth, carapace, and wings worth 1200 eagles (sold)
  • Mission pay:  300 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, sent Cathance Lobdhain and Quelenna to investigate the crash of the mechanical airship Delcinia, hailing from Falas Vronti on Thunderer, in the extreme southwest of skylith Commerce.
  • The Freelancers got slightly lost on the way because of low visibility, but corrected themselves the following day and found the wreck, which had opened up an interior cave.
  • The entire crew of the Delcinia had died; those that survived the crash appeared to have been attacked by something with claws.
  • As the Freelancers kept looking, an albino arachnid with claws showed up.  Quelenna and Cathance slew this creature, but in the process Cathance blew herself and her mount up with a fireball.  Fortunately, the mount survived.
  • The Freelancers resumed investigating the wreck, and determined the cargo was ordinary.  Quelenna exited and harvested the creature's carapace; Cathance retrieved some samples of the cargo.  They leave before dark, having been unable to determine if the wreck was caused by sabotage.
  • After camping a night in the southwest, the Freelancers returned to Ripa Daneo the next day.  Damakaios paid them 225 eagles (the fee minus the Freelancers Cut) upon receipt of their report.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern early evening Nemostag, 1st prime post-Apastron.
Loot
  • incense and furs worth 624 eagles (sold)
  • albino carapace worth 400 eagles (sold)
  • Mission pay: 250 eagles (10% to Freelancers)

  • Dominic Holyarm, Ka Kekoa, Peb Pebbles, Aranel Neras-Dumaren, Damian Galanis, and Colt Cunningham accepted the standing mission to hunt hippogryph eggs for House Aldous.
  • Using flying mounts, the Freelancers took 3 days to travel without incident to Haven.
  • In Haven, Dominic set up a contract with Bertana Plumblossom to fund free beverages for Freelancers at The Local Flavour for a year, in exchange for his enriching the land in one of her struggling orchards.
  • While availing themselves of this largesse, Ka and Aranel made the rounds to learn where to find hippogryphs.  Locals informed them the hippogryphs to the southeast had gotten bold and dangerous.
  • The next day the Freelancers flew in the direction indicated by field hands, and came across a large hippogryph nest nurtured by four hippogryphs.
  • The Freelancers waited for two to fly off, then slew one hippogryph, captured another, and retrieved 16 eggs from the nest.
  • After staying in Haven overnight, the Freelancers returned to Cliffshadow albeit with more effort because of the captured hippogryph.
  • Upon delivery to House Aldous, Odo paid the Freelancers 600 eagles plus a trained gelding hippogryph for the eggs, and 1500 eagles for the captured hippogryph.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern during Celebration of Apastron.
Loot
  • Wild hippogryph (sold for 1500 eagles)
  • Mission pay:  600 eagles (split), trained gelding hippogryph (Damian)

  • Valan Naidon was dispatched by Arnari Rilynn’sithek to transport the hydra goose egg to Mantzur, with a request that Korfel Goltorrah evaluate it as a product of nature and whether the hydra geese Freelancers had been encountering were a breeding population.
  • Valan took most of the day to fly directly to Mantzur.  His arrival surprised Korfel, who had just sent other Freelancers back to Cliffshadow with a message for Arnari.
  • With Valan observing, Korfel verified that the egg had a viable goose hydra offspring inside.  He also confirmed it was a pollution-caused monstrosity, with no place among Āhua’s creatures, and destroyed it.
  • Valan stayed the night in Mantzur and flew back the following day.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Petraag, last prime post-Planting.

  • Lorcan Puddingrass Pasternack Tuinstra, Ka Kekoa, and Peb Pebbles accepted the mission from the Church of Ua to capture a water elemental for use in creating a Blessed Fountain.  The Downpour Anuhea graciously loaned Freelancers an Elemental Flask of Water for this purpose.
  • The Freelancers flew to Mantzur to consult with Korfel Goltorah, leader of the the Children of Āhua there, on where best to find a water elemental.
  • The next day, following Korfel's instructions, the Freelancers went upriver on the eastern fork of the Haven River until they came to a pool populated with a mix of water elementals and mist mephits.
  • The Freelancers provoked one of the mist mephits and captured a water elemental who responded to the provocation, then fled back to Mantzur.
  • The mama bear who had been re-wilded in the Haven Hills from Freelancer stables has produced more cubs, and the Freelancers persuaded Korfel to allow some playtime with the bear cubs.  This persuasion was easier since Ka's mount, Ohenui, is already one of her progeny.
  • The Freelancers returned the Elemental Flask of Water to Anuhea and were paid the mission fee of 100 eagles each.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Sieratag, last prime post-Planting.
Loot
  • Mission pay:  100 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Manu, Minji, Maghris Bloomfield the 18th, Peb Pebbles, Carmen Granau, and Vinegar Tom {Vin} accepted the ongoing mission from the wizard Gwidion to clean up altered wildlife along Pirates River.
  • The Freelancers took 2 days to fly directly from Cliffshadow to the river feeding Mossey Lake and camped there for the night.
  • The next day, they found no mutants on Pirates Dream river, but as soon as the Freelancers started searching up Pirates River, they were stalked by two hydra geese, which they slew.
  • The Freelancers harvested the feathers from the hydra geese, then tracked them back to their nest, which had 3 eggs within, and filth-encrusted remnants of an adventurer.
    • Acquired:  600 eagles' worth of feathers, a pouch with 50 eagles, 1 short sword in bad condition, and adamantine chain mail.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Chaostag, last prime post-Planting.  To the horror of us all, the Freelancers brought the eggs back when they returned.
  • After a debate with Arnari Rilynn’sithek and each other, the decision was taken to sell 2 eggs to the Academy of Magic, and send one to Mantzur to determine if the hydra geese were a breeding population.
  • The following day Minji, Manu, and Maghris spoke to Garth Nimblefingers, Dean of the Academy of Magic, who paid 300 eagles for 2 of the eggs.

  • Lorcan Puddingrass Pasternack Tuinstra, Dominic Holyarm, Meurig, Maghris Bloomfield the 18th, and Peb Pebbles accepted the mission from Lady Sonya of House Drogo to deal with her garden's problem of aggressive rosebushes.
  • The Freelancers visited House Drogo, only to be told by Lady Sonya that the garden is so aggressive people cannot enter without being attacked; and informed by the Rock sagani gardener Boleck that he's been fertilizing the roses with leftover fish.
  • Upon their entry into the garden many plants attacked the Freelancers, not just the rosebushes.  The Freelancers killed the awakened plants.  As collateral damage, which they'd told Lady Sonya to expect, about ⅓ of the garden was burned and ¼ of it subjected to erupting earth.
  • Upon investigation, Lorcan confirmed the problem is from the magical pollution upstream of Lakeview, and recommended not burying fish from there under the plants.  Peb offered to help with fertilizer.
  • House Drogo paid the Freelancers the mission fee of 100 eagles each.  Upon their return to Freelancers Tavern, Meurig convinced Arnari Rilynn’sithek that since this cleanup was a pollution mission, they should get an uncommon potion each.  The potions issued were:  oil of slipperiness, to Dominic; philter of love, to Lorcan and Meurig; potion of water breathing, to Maghris and Peb.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern the same day.
Loot
  • 100 eagles' worth of iris pollen blinding powder Lorcan
  • Mission pay: 100 eagles each (10% cut to Freelancers); oil of slipperiness (Dominic); philter of love, (Lorcan and Meurig); potion of water breathing, (Maghris and Peb)
