  • Mia Taumata, Murai, Lorcan Puddingrass Pasternack Tuinstra, Manu, and Ka Kekoa accepted the ongoing mission from the wizard Gwidion to clean up altered wildlife along Pirates River.
  • The Freelancers cut cross-country in unpleasant weather, arriving in two days without incident at the north end of Mossey Lake.
  • After searching up the river for a day, the Freelancers found unnatural tracks that appeared to be a cross between a dire wolf and a giant elk.  They followed the tracks until Lorcan's blowgun of warning foiled an ambush.
  • The Freelancers fought two carnivorous "pseudo-elk" which were fast and had a third-eye that frightened the winged bears.  Nonetheless, the Freelancers prevailed and slew the creatures.
  • Investigation of the corpses revealed the mutations came while the creatures were young, not in the womb.
  • The Freelancers decided to harvest what they could, and also bring one of the heads back to Cliffshadow.
  • Arnari Rilynn'sithek, leader of the Cliffshadow Freelancers, was impressed by the head and has decided to mount it.  She paid the Freelancers 90 eagles each for the mission and an uncommon potion each: potion of lightning resistance (Ka), philter of love (Lorcan), potion of growth (Mia), potion of hill giant strength (Murai), potion of water breathing (Manu).
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Fysitag, 3rd prime post-Periastron.

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, sent Dryali Tezbeth, Ondar Thundercaller, Nix Frostshaper, Tai Ho'onani, and Quelenna to backtrack the clockwork owlbear that had been attacking Bati Kasabasi. Freelancer help had been requested by Mayor Thruxl of Bati Kasabasi.
  • The Freelancers flew to Bati Kasabasi to check in with Thruxl, who was disappointed at how long it had taken Freelancers to followup on this mission.  He confirmed for them no further attacks had taken place, and the Freelancers promised to recover stolen goods if they could.
  • After overnighting in Bati Kasabasi, the Freelancers easily relocated the cave opening used by the owlbear construct, and entered the cave system under the western Rim.
  • The Freelancers followed the signs of the owlbear constructs for three days, after which they encountered signs of ancient dwarven ruins, and the path splitting many ways.
  • Nix sent her familiar Mercury to investigate ahead, to determine the most useful way.  Mercury quickly discovered 3 plate-armour constructs similar to those plaguing the Vathia Estia Tunnels last year, as well as apparent piles of supplies; but no sign of any owlbear constructs.
  • The Freelancers prepared for combat, then Dryali cast shatter on one of the constructs.  The Freelancers quickly dispatched two of them.
  • The melee grew more interesting when the wayward owlbear construct joined, and two mechanical ants attacked from under the floor.  A punch golem burst out of the wall, attacking Tai and Quelenna and gravely injuring the latter.
  • Ondar administered a potion to heal Quelenna and the Freelancers defeated the constructs.  They quickly determined the apparent supplies were a ruse intended to trap the unwary and trigger attacks.
  • The Freelancers gathered the construct parts and returned to Bati Kasabasi in 3 days' time, whereupon the Mayor paid their mission fee of 250 eagles.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern on Nemostag, 3rd prime post-Periastron.
Loot
  • 3 suits battered plate armour and parts worth 1500 eagles – sold
  • Clockwork owlbear parts worth 450 eagles – sold
  • Two defunct mechanical ants wirht 300 eagles – sold
  • Mission pay: 250 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Mia Taumata, Murai, Lorcan Puddingrass Pasternack Tuinstra, Manu, Ka Kekoa, and Maghris Bloomfield the 18th accepted the mission from the Mayor of Marshfork to clear out the cave occupied by grblins, situated some days to the northwest of Marshfork.
  • The Freelancers travelled to Marshfork in 8 days without incident.
  • In Marshfork, the Freelancers confirmed with the Mayor that there are no known captives held by the grblins.
  • As the Freelancers headed cross-country towards their target, they paired up for watches, during which they heard wolves and bats.
  • Upon arrival at the cave, the Freelancers executed their plan to have Lorcan confirm there are no prisoners, then have Maghris' homunculus "Mr Zircon'' set fire to the bat guano, to perform an ambush on the grblins as they exit the cave.  Unfortunately the homunculus was spotted and destroyed.
  • The Freelancers set up their ambush anyhow, and Manu lit the fire.  However Murai blocked the entrance of the cave, triggering an attack by hidden snakes.
  • The Freelancers slew five grblins, but one fled northwest on his giant bat, with Lorcan following on his courser pegasus.  That grblin did not deviate course, and Lorcan turned back to rejoin the others.
  • Maghris captured one of the grblins' giant bats and befriended it.
  • Ka, Mia, Murai, and Manu inspected the cave and grblin corpses, to find a collection of items.  They noted the grblins had the skull-and-scimitar device spotted before.
    • Acquired:  240 eagles in assorted coin; 6 gems worth 50 eagles: 2 Citrine, 1 Jasper, 1 Chrysoprase, 2 star rose quartz; amulet of the devout; blowgun of warning;  ruby of the war mage; Lightning Javelin; 5 scimitars, 5 shortbows & quivers; 80 arrows; 2 leather armour and 3 chain shirts in bad condition.
  • The Freelancers camped overnight nearby to confirm no grblins would return, then returned to Marshfork, and collected their fee of 200 eagles each from the Mayor.
  • The Freelancers travelled from Marshfork to Cliffshadow in 8 days without incident, with Maghris bringing the giant bat to serve as his mount.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern in Cliffshadow Remitag, 3rd prime post-Periastron.

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, sent Fine Branch and Cathance Lobdhain to investigate Waypoint Tickler for Daystar lotion and cult activity. Freelancer help had been requested by Tempest Addis of the Ripa Daneo Church of Storms.
  • The Freelancers took passage on the Traviscarter, a fire elemental airship captained by Anjanette Zanthra Orpen Albafen, a Maker gnome.  They travelled for 14 tags through clear skies, with a stopover at Waypoint Whim, to arrive at Waypoint Tickler on the very day of Periastron.
  • As the Traviscarter approached the waypoint docks, the airship was ambushed by two air elementals bent on chaos and destruction.  The Freelancers vanquished them, but not before Fine Branch was gravely injured and Cathance was punted off the airship.
  • Conversation with Oparapa Jardin, the Holder dwarf waypoint stationmaster, revealed that the Waypoint had already dispatched a messenger to request Freelancer help.  The Freelancers explained they had arrived in response to that request and collected the mission fee of 200 eagles each.
  • The Freelancers, not having observed any signs of Daystar cult activity, withdrew to their rooms, where Fine Branch sent to Damakaios about the encounter with the air elementals and gave notice that the mission request was inbound.
  • The next morning, at the request of Oparapa, the Freelancers scouted the south side of the waypoint in search of air elementals.  They also searched for Daystar cultists or lotion, but Fine Branch's locate object showed it was only in the warehouse.
  • That afternoon, the Freelancers were ready and waiting when the next airship arrived at the waypoint, but the arrival had no troubles from air elementals or otherwise.
  • The Freelancers helped unload, which gave Fine Branch an opportunity to run detect magic and locate the crate of Daystar lotion in the warehouse.  They asked the quartermaster, a Cloud elf named Amara, about it, and she noted it was not on any manifest.  Cathance persuaded Amara to allow them to remove the crate and thus neutralize the dangers it posed to the waypoint.
  • 4 tags later – 3 local days – the Freelancers departed Waypoint Tickler on the Myriostos, an air elemental airship captained by Kamwangi, a quinametzin.  Travel to Ripa Daneo took 14 tags through chaotic weather but was otherwise uneventful.
  • Damakaios paid Cathance and Fine Branch 225 eagles each for the Church of Storms mission, and collected the Freelancers Cut of 20 eagles each for the Waypoint mission.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Rochtag, 2nd prime post-Periastron.
Loot
  • 2 vials of sparkly air elemental remains, worth 100 eagles each
  • A full crate of Daystar lotion.
  • Mission pay (Waypoint air elemental problem): 200 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)
  • Mission pay (Daystar lotion investigation): 250 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Minji, Dominic Holyarm, Maghris Bloomfield the 18th, Aranel Dumas-Numaren, and Leafshadow accepted the mission from Casimir Lightforger, Mayor of Marshfork, to confirm whether caves to the north had been reoccupied by grblins.
  • The Freelancers travelled to Marshfork without incident.
  • After checking with the Mayor if any grblins had been spotted, the Freelancers travelled north to the cave in question.  During overnight camps, they heard wolves during watch.
  • When the Freelancers arrived at the cave, they were insufficiently discreet, and the grblins chased them off.  Battle was avoided because Minji led the grblins away from the others.
  • The Freelancers met up at their camp from the prior evening, but Dominic insisted on moving to a safer location.  They were still attacked by grblins, who they slew.  Dominic befriended one of the grblins' dire wolf mounts.
    • Acquired:  130 cats, 1 bloodstone worth 50 eagles, 2 shortbows & quivers, 2 scimitars, and a carved set of bone dice worth 25 eagles.
  • When the Freelancers returned to Marshfork to report to the Mayor, the watch sounded alarm horns when the dire wolf was sighted.
  • The Mayor paid the Freelancers their fee of 150 eagles each, but also provided a mission request to Arnari for Freelancers to clear it out.
  • The Freelancers returned to Cliffshadow, camping out in the open until they arrived at Cliffgate, since the dire wolf wanted to bite people and needed some training before it could be stabled.
  • Upon their arrival at Freelancers Tavern, Tomtom collected the Freelancers Cut.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Chaostag, 1st prime post-Periastron.
Loot
  • Coin: 130 cats
  • 50-eagle gems:  1 bloodstone
  • Engraved dice worth 25 eagles
  • 2 scimitars, 2 shortbows (sold for 45 eagles total)
  • Mission Pay: 150 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, assigned Fine Branch, Cathance Lobdhain, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, Nix Frostshaper, and Kaikoa to track down the individual apparently responsible for the deaths of several monks at the Tranquil Crossing Monastery.  Freelancer help had been requested by High Abbot Grigorio.
  • The Freelancers flew to Tranquil Crossing, arriving mid-day.  They confirmed with the high abbot and one of the monks that no more deaths had occurred.  After asking about nearby settlements, they departed towards the south & east.
  • After a couple hours the Freelancers located some herds under the watchful eyes of hobgoblins on horseback.  From them, they learned that the hobgoblins' village, Krowa, had been afflicted by a strange malaise that worsened at night.
  • The Freelancers followed a herdsman to Krowa.  The headwoman, Rek, explained that they'd had deaths and allowed Fine Branch to examine one of the sick villagers.  Ana cast detect magic and sensed necromatic energy on the ill hobgoblins.
  • Fine Branch cast divination to consult directly with The Cat, who informed her the "Silver Scion" is responsible for these deaths.  Fine Branch and Nix then used augury to determine the correct direction to search.
  • The evening was nigh, so Cathance and Ana urged the Freelancers to stay and not search, reasoning the source of the sickness would come to Krowa.  The Freelancers followed their advice and sure enough, shadows arrived in the middle of the night.
  • After a brief fight, the Freelancers destroyed the shadows, but a Silver dragonborn on a peregrine gryphon shot arrows from above.  The fight woke up the village, and the Freelancers explained their discoveries.
  • Since the gryphon was too fast to pursue, Ana cast invisibility on her familiar Hawkie to chase this miscreant.  Hawkie pursued the knight until spotted and then was taken out by a wild hippogryph.
  • The Freelancers kept watch in Krowa an extra night.  The shadows did not return, and the sick villagers recovered, so the Freelancers departed.
  • The Freelancers flew to where Hawkie left off pursuit, searching and failing to find any clues.  They returned to Tranquil Crossing, and Grigorio paid their mission fee of 250 eagles each.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Rochtag, 3rd prime post-Cat.
Loot
  • Mission pay:  250 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)
