  • Ondar Thundercaller, Kaikoa, Lorcan Puddingrass Pasternack Tuinstra, Timmy,  and Sabah Banu accepted the ongoing mission from the wizard Gwidion to clean up altered wildlife along Pirates River.
  • The Freelancers cut cross-country, with Kaikoa flying overhead and Ondar leading those on foot.  All went well, although they almost tangled with a giant elk.
  • The Freelancers decided to explore the north bank of Pirates River, but did not get far beyond the fork before they encountered an ochre jelly, which they slew handily.
  • Five monkey-like creatures, with weirdly long arms and barbed hands, emerged from the surrounding shrubbery to grasp at the Freelancers, and be killed.
  • Lorcan and Sabah examined the monkeys and determined they were "chokers" mutated from chipmunks.  Ondar and Timmy looked around and find 203gp and 5 50-gp gems.  Kaikoa repaired his tack which he sliced whilst fighting the monkeys.
  • Arnari Rilynn’sithek paid 90 eagles each and disbursed the potion rewards:  potion of water breathing (Ondar), potion of hill giant strength (Timmy), potion of animal friendship (Sabah), potion of poison resistance (Kaikoa), and philter of love (Lorcan).
  • Ondar drank his potion immediately.
  • ...
  • Anyhow, returned to Freelancers Rochtag, 1st prime post-Apastron.
Loot
  • Coin: 203 eagles
  • Gems: 5 50-eagle gemstones: 2 chalcedony, 1 citrine, 1 jasper, 1 quartz
  • Mission pay:  100 eagles each (10% to Freelancers), potion of water breathing (Ondar), potion of hill giant strength (Timmy), potion of animal friendship (Sabah), potion of poison resistance (Kaikoa), and philter of love (Lorcan)

  • Tomtom Evans, deputy leader of the Freelancers, worked with several druids at the Freelancers Tavern in determining the disposition of the mama bear brought into the stables Nemostag, 2nd prime post-Fulcrum.
  • With the help of the druids, they established the mama bear was not comfortable getting returned to the mutant-infested environment around Pirates River.
  • The druids of the Children of Āhua town Mantzur agreed to help resettle the mama bear in the Haven Hills.
  • Today, Korfel Goltorah, leader of Mantzur, arrived to escort Mama Bear to her new home in the Haven Hills, away from the results of the pollution near the Pirates Dream River.

  • Damakaios, leader of the Ripa Daneo Freelancers, convinced Dryali Tezbeth, Fine Branch, and Terrance to take the mission from House Amabel to start culling the fauna from that harpy-infested villa they purchased, to increase its habitability.
  • The three Freelancers walked over to the villa and immediately tangled with four harpies.  Dryali and Terrance were charmed, but Fine Branch acted immediately to snap them out of it.
  • They slew two of the harpies, but the others withdrew to the villa atrium.
  • With the harpies out of the way, the Freelancers flew over the villa's atrium.  They spotted no harpies, but did see an overgrown garden, replete with piles of bones and shark teeth.  They heard as many as 4 more harpies.
  • The Freelancers returned, maybe an hour after they left, and reported their findings to Damakaios.  He took notes, of course; and paid them 225 eagles, their fee minus the Freelancers Cut.
Loot
  • Mission pay:  250 eagles (10% to Freelancers)

  • Ondar Thundercaller, Osric Torunn, Glesni Bōhatei, and Mia Taumata accepted a mission from Malsam, village headman of the hamlet Sceap, to locate the ankheg colony to the southwest and take a census of the inhabitants.
  • The Freelancers travelled to Sceap in 6 days without incident.
  • The following day, Ondar and Mia led the Freelancers to where the ankhegs had been originally encountered.
  • Ondar determined the ankhegs had come from somewhat southwest, and the Freelancers started tracking them.  A misstep by Glesni brought four ankhegs to investigate, two with wings.  The Freelancers slew all of them.
  • After camping for a night, the Freelancers continued southwest, and discovered the ankheg colony in the side of a hill, with scouting parties going in the fourth ordinal directions.
  • The Freelancers determined the best plan was to dispatch the ankheg sooner than later, and Glesni used animal messenger to warn Malsam of this plan.
  • For the rest of the day and following morning, the Freelancers methodically lured the ankheg scouting parties into a fight in which they were slain.  These parties had a total of 10 ankhegs, 4 of which were winged.
  • Osric harvested the chitin from the ankhegs.
  • Scouts eliminated, the Freelancers entered the ankheg hill, and slew the queen, two adults, and many immature ankhegs.  They also destroyed all the eggs they found.
  • Investigation of the burrow found an inscription in druidic attributing the ankheg presence to the Resolute Champions of Āhua Tūturu, and also some belongings of theirs which they presubmably did not need anymore because slain by ankhegs.
    • Acquired:  196 eagles in assorted coin; 1 gem each of bloodstone, carnelian, chalcedony, chrysoprase, onyx, quartz, sardonyx; wand of magic detection, saddle of the cavalier (for gryphon or hippogryph), dust of disappearance
  • Malsam, relieved at the removal of this threat, paid the Freelancers their fee of 150 eagles each, and then a bonus of 200 eagles each.
  • The Freelancers travelled back to Cliffshadow without too much incident.  Ondar had chosen to carry the head of the ankheg queen back, which resulted in much rumour and ultimately enhanced Freelancer prestige.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Fysitag, last prime post-Planting.
  • Arnari Rilynn’sithek sent the ankheg head out to the taxidermists, intending to add it as a trophy in the public meeting room.
Loot
  • Coin: 196 eagles in assorted coins
  • Gems: 50-eagle gems: 1 bloodstone, 1 carnelian, 1 chalcedony, 1 chrysoprase, 1 onyx, 1 quartz, 1 sardonyx
  • crafting materials:  840 eagles' worth of ankheg chitin
  • wand of magic detection
  • saddle of the cavalier - for a gryphon or hippogryph
  • dust of disappearance
  • Mission pay:  150gp each (10%  to Freelancers)
  • Mission bonus:  200gp each

  • Cathance Lobdhain, Hikawera, Tai Ho'onani, Lorilla Anahera Amaia Turen Itu {Ana}, and Quelenna were tasked with the mission from Taleisin of the Orderly Stones Monastery to find the reason for the kobold attacks, and end it.
  • The Freelancers travelled by flying mount to Orderly Stones monastery in one day without incident and overnighted there.
  • Travel to the kobold stronghold took two full days, and the Freelancers were attacked by young owl gryphons during the intervening night, which they slew.
  • The next day, the Freelancers flew up to the stronghold entrance, killing 5 guards.  A sixth one escaped to warn the others.
  • Exploring the tunnels within, the Freelancers found it seemingly empty.  They encountered a large crevasse, which had two large caverns and four ledges opening onto it.  A bridge led from their tunnel to one of the caverns.  Ana had her familiar look for kobolds, and finding none, scatter any sling bullet supplies they found.  The familiar found a copper armband, which had a distorted image of The Snake.
  • The Freelancers flew on mounts to the cavern not attached to the bridge, and started exploring.  A roper attacked them; they slew it, and paused to assess.
  • Before resuming explorations, the Freelancers were attacked by a party of 6 kobolds, who were audibly displeased about their Avatar of The Snake.  All wore the copper armbands.  Tai negotiated a truce, but not before taking large injuries.
  • The kobolds relayed that their stronghold was beholden to a false Avatar of The Snake, who required excessive tribute.  The Freelancers concluded the false avatar was really a dragon, and offered to assist with ridding the kobolds of this problem.
  • The kobolds led the Freelancers by a circuitous route to a safe place to heal up, and from there to the lair of the false avatar.  They sent two of their party back to the central stronghold to provide a distraction.
  • Ana sent her familiar to find alternate entrances into the lair, which the Freelancers used after securing mounts in a nearby cave.  However, they fooled nothing and nobody; a young green dragon, Carpalor, awaited them.
  • A battle ensued, in which Carpalor was slain, but not before eliminating Ana's familiar and severely injuring Quelenna.
  • The Freelancers sorted through Carpalor's relatively small hoard, leaving supplies, gems, and coin for the kobolds, and taking all the magic items.
    • Acquired:  2900 eagles in assorted coin, 16 50-eagle gems, 7 healing potions, 2 greater healing potions, 1 superior healing potion, Alchemy Jug, Handy Haversack, pendant of inner strength, bracelet of holding, +1 Arcane Grimoire, +1 greataxe
  • One kobold met them a ways after, and led the Freelancers back out of the stronghold.  Other kobolds kept watch from the surrounding cover.
  • The Freelancers travelled back to Orderly Stones monastery without incident and collected their fee of 500 eagles each.
  • After Ana resummoned her familiar, the Freelancers returned to Cliffshadow the following day.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern Rochtag, 3rd prime post-Planting.
  • Arnari Rilynn’sithek sent the green dragon head out to the taxidermists, intending to add it as a trophy in the public meeting room.
Loot
  • Coins: 2900 eagles in assorted coin
  • Gems:  16 50-eagle gemstones:
    • 2 bloodstone, 1 chrysoprase, 2 citrine, 2 jasper, 1 moonstone, 4 onyx, 3 star rose quartz, 1 sardonyx

  • Alchemy Jug
  • Handy Haversack
  • pendant of inner strength
  • bracelet of holding

  • Arnari Rilynn'sithek, leader of the Duquesne Freelancers, forwarded to Damakaios a mission from Church of Storms to travel to Waypoint Puissant and determine, quietly, the disposition of the Daystar cultist lotion that had been shipped there.
    • Nyls Arendi had already forwarded the records of Freelancer dealings with this cult, and by the Pachyderm, this cult is the most uncouth heresy I've heard of in decades.
  • Dryali Tezbeth, Fine Branch, Tahu Tuala, and Tuala accepted this mission with a grimness that hasn't marked their prior behaviour in Ripa Daneo.  Their explanations added some flavour to the rather dry records Nyls had forwarded.
  • The Freelancers travelled for 6 days to Waypoint Puissant on the Paquet, a mechanical airship from Nadezhda.  Travel was mostly without incident, although they hit a storm on the 4th day.
  • The day they arrived the Freelancers did not find any lotion, but did observe personnel who might be part of this cult.  Fine Branch scouted on her hippogryph and found a cave in use.
  • The following day the Freelancers checked out the cave.  Tahu snuck in and found it in use by these cultists, and two minotaurs in gold-chased gear.
  • Unwilling to confront the group in the cave, the Freelancers returned to the Waypoint station by a circuitous route and spend the rest of the day observing the cultists they could see.  The leader, a Wild elf named Buttercup, was absent.
  • That evening the Freelancers headed back towards the cave to confront the minotaurs, but went astray in the woods.
  • Fine Branch, flying above, spotted trackers, so they decided to camp in a clearing and wait for an attack.
  • 2 minotaurs and 4 Daystar cultists attacked the Freelancers.  They appeared to have divine magic: the minotaurs had some sort of smite on their blades, and Buttercup had spiritual weapon.
  • The Freelancers killed the minotaurs, 2 heretics including Buttercup, and captured the other 2.  Interrogation of the captives merely confirmed Buttercup was leader.
  • The minotaurs had half-plate (1500gp total) and nice greataxes (120gp), and Buttercup's gaudy vest was worth 100gp.
  • Investigating the cave revealed a large amount of hoarded wealth, as well as 2 crates of mostly-used Daystar lotion, and a golden shrine.  The Freelancers waited til dawn to return.
  • The Waypoint station personnel were understandably displeased to learn about the minotaurs, and the Freelancers had to reveal themselves as part of the explanation.
  • The Daystar cultists incriminated themselves in short order and the rest of the station personnel assisted the Freelancers in clearing out any Daystar paraphernalia and learning what they could about the Daystar lotion disposition.
  • After 5 days on the Waypoint, the Freelancers returned to Commerce on the Paquet bringing the two captives and a minotaur head, as well as the Daystar "shrine" and other valuables from the cave.
    • They also brought two barrels of Dwarven stout brewed on the Waypoint.
  • Travel was six days without incident.
  • Upon debarking from the Paquet at Ripa Daneo, Storm Guards took custody of the two captives, and the Daystar shrine.
  • Returned to Freelancers Tavern late morning, Chaostag, 3rd prime post-Planting.
  • Once back in the tavern, they delivered the minotaur head to Damakaios, who paid the Freelancers 225 eagles each, and then immediately sent to the taxidermist.
Loot
  • Coin:  2376 eagles in assorted coins
  • Extremely gaudy daystar long vest (100 eagles' worth of topaz & sunstones)
  • 2 sets Minotaur armor, roughly equivalent to one suit of plate, worth 1500 eagles
  • 2 minotaur great axes worth 60 eagles each
  • 250-eagle jewelry objects:
    • Bronze crown
    • Large gold bracelet
    • Silver necklace with a sapphire pendant
  • Gold plated Daystar "shrine" (turned over to Church of Storms)
  • Glamoured Studded Leather (Tahu)
  • Mission pay:  250 eagles each (10% to Freelancers)
